The Everett Group has been teaching free real estate classes since 2015. What started as a free class for first-time condo buyers has grown into a full series covering buying, selling, moving to the suburbs, navigating Chicago schools, and more.

All classes are complimentary and open to the public.

Our Classes

  • Our flagship class, taught alongside lender Chris Kinsella, covers everything a first-time buyer needs to know before starting a Chicago home search. Topics include how Chicago's seasonal market works, what to budget for closing costs, what happens after your offer is accepted, how attorney review and inspection work, and what to expect at the closing table. This is our most attended class, with more than 5,000 guests since its first session in 2015.

  • A natural companion to our buyer class. Melanie Everett teaches first-time sellers how to think about pricing strategy, what to expect from the listing and showing process, how to evaluate offers, and the pros and cons of home sale contingencies. Designed for anyone considering a sale in the next six to eighteen months.

  • Taught by our Western Suburbs team, this class covers everything buyers need to know about making the move from Chicago to the suburbs. Topics include neighborhood comparisons across Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Western Springs, La Grange, Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, and Naperville, differences between Cook County and DuPage County property taxes, school districts, commute options, and what the buying process looks like in the suburbs versus the city.

  • Taught in partnership with Chicago School GPS, this class helps families understand Chicago's public and private school options. Topics include how to approach the application process, what factors to weigh when evaluating schools, and how to make a decision that fits your family's priorities.

  • This series is designed for real estate agents, not buyers or sellers. Melanie Everett and Sarah Emas, Director of Operations, share the business strategies and systems behind The Everett Group. Past topics have included building a client newsletter, hosting community events, and growing a real estate team.

Yes! All of our classes are free to attend. There is no cost and no obligation to work with The Everett Group.

Are the classes really free?

Do I need to be a current client to attend?

No. Our classes are open to anyone. Most attendees are people who are thinking about buying or selling in the next several months and want to learn the process before committing to anything.

Can my company or organization book a private class?

Yes. We have taught private sessions at corporate offices and for social groups across Chicago, including Chicago Girls Who Walk, the Junior League of Chicago, and more. If you are interested in bringing a class to your team or organization, reach out through the contact form and we will follow up.

How long are the classes?

Class length varies by format, but most of our sessions run approximately 30 -60 minutes including time for questions.

How do I find out about upcoming classes?
