Property Homework

Before making an offer on a home, we strongly recommend doing the following research on the property.

Google the address and neighborhood to see if any news articles mention it.
View the address on Google Maps to get a feel for surrounding homes & businesses.
Explore the neighborhood at various times of day.
Measure your commuting options and proximity to transit. Google Maps is helpful for finding options from Point A to Point B!
Understand any street parking restrictions, and get a feel for parking availability. If you’re in Chicago, you can look up if the property is in a permitted parking zone here, and learn more about parking zones here.
If the garage or driveway seems especially tight, make sure you can park your car.
Explore local crime databases, including crime reporting & registered offenders.
