Prepping Your Home for the Photoshoot

The photoshoot is an extremely important step for us to successfully market your home! With buyers beginning their home searches online, the photos are our first opportunity to make a lasting impression. If a buyer loves the photos of your home, they’ll almost certainly book a showing.

As a TEG client, you will receive a copy of our Styling Guide. It’s chock-full of our tried and true secrets for stellar property marketing. We’ll also provide you with tailored recommendations specific to your home. We know this is a lot of work, but it pays off! Once you’ve implemented everything, we will bring in our photographer.

Here are some reminders to help make sure you have a successful photoshoot:

Declutter

  • Clear kitchen countertops (even the paper towel roll!)

  • Take fridge magnets down

  • Clear bathroom countertops

  • Remove shower items

  • Take up shower mats

Clean

  • Vacuum and mop floors

  • Dust

  • Windex mirrors and windows

  • Wipe down bathroom sinks and counters

  • Sweep/power wash outdoor spaces

  • If you have a large walk-in closet, we will photograph it, so we’d recommend tidying it!

Accessorize

  • Style your coffee table, side tables, and shelves

  • Display any favorite cookbooks in the kitchen, or a bowl of single color citrus

  • Consider putting out fresh flowers (white hydrangeas or tulips always look fabulous!)

  • Water indoor and outdoor plants (we also are fans of faux plants/preserved boxwoods, to bring life into a photo)

  • Fluff and chop pillows down the middle (not on points!)

Prepare

  • Steam curtains and any skirted furniture

  • Open the blinds all the way

  • Make the beds and fluff all bedding

  • Hide remotes, keys, and other small items
